The two-year diploma program has been structured so as to train professionals to assist doctors in the operation theatre and work under the supervision of anesthetists and surgeons. The diploma prepares students for the overall management of the operation theatre. An OT Technician’s work includes taking care of the ins and outs of the operation process as well as assisting the surgeon during the operation. Other duties include arranging the operation theatre table, dressing table, instrument and anesthesia table, sterilization of all surgical instruments, drapes, and linen, and facilitating the drugs and anesthetic gases required for surgery. The OT technician is an essential person in the operating theatre team who manages and organizes the whole of the operation theatre, in the absence of whom neither can a surgeon operate nor can a hospital or healthcare center run efficiently. Rapid growth in the healthcare industry has increased the demand for such skilled professionals thereby increasing the number of enrollments for the course at ALLIED HEALTHCARE COUNCIL OF INDIA which has an array of many more allied health sciences and paramedical programs.
